THE ISSUES AT HAND

Inflation and Cost of Living.

772,000 Missourians live below the federal poverty level and many live in food insecure households.  This should never be tolerated.  We need to restore the programs and benefits needed to help people feed their families, and restore their dignity.  And we need to reduce prices on groceries and gas, with additional stipends given to seniors on fixed incomes.

Education & Workforce Development.

We need more funding for schools and teachers, and we need to bring back vocational classes in high schools to set kids up for success as soon as they graduate.  With the Missouri personal property tax bringing in more than 10 billion dollars last year, and ¾ of it allocated to education, can you please explain to me why we have schools in the 4th district shutting down?

Healthcare Needs in Rural Areas, Especially Among Veterans.

In my work with our active-duty military, veterans and their families over the last 15 years, I’ve come to understand the basic hardships that they suffer when they transition out of the military.  PTSD, traumatic brain injury and other physical ailments they need treatment for, but struggle to receive.  A lack of hospitals, clinics and VA facilities near them, and no way to get to a long-distance doctor.  More mental health services.  We MUST fix this broken system. These are people who sacrificed everything for us.  And I am NOT ok with inventing a war that is waged on the backs of our 4th district military members.

Agriculture &
Land Use.

Many of the small rural towns in the 4th district are populated and supported by farmers, but because of rising fertilizer, fuel prices, and trade policy impacts on exports,  farmers are now losing money on every crop.  That leads immediately to higher prices at the grocery store.  We need subsidies and benefits that could help out immediately and support family farms and rural landowners.

Where is the Marijuana Tax Going?

Voters earmarked the money for veterans services, but as of this past March, nearly $100 million sits unused! Nobody is paying attention!  This is badly needed money that could be working to assist in every area, but especially healthcare.
